Films: They (2002)
Alias: None
Type: Mystical
Location: Civilized Area/Eldritch location
Height/Weight: That of average humans.
Affiliation: Evil
Summary: Night terrors. Boogeymen. Call them whatever you like. It matters all the same to them. They'll find you. And, as it turns out, they'll never forget you.
History: Every now and then, a child will suffer a traumatic experience. This actually makes them an easy target for a race of unseen monsters. These night terrors, collectively known as "They", target troubled children, traumatize them in the dark, and mark them for death much later in their lives. Anyone who encounters They had better stock up on batteries, lest they stray from the light and into their clutches.
Notable Kills: Nothing special.
Final Fate: Everyone who bears the mark of the They is going to die, plain and simple. You can run from it, hide from it, but in the end, the darkness will find you again, and the They will have their food...or whatever they actually want...
Powers/Abilities: They can open up portals to their world in any area of pure darkness.
Weakness: The light wards them off.
Scariness Factor: 4.5-Imagine getting assaulted by spindly monsters with uncanny proportions at a very young age, only to get marked for death later on. The levels of paranoia and dread must be astonishing. You may not see They that often, but when you do, you're already dead.
Trivia: -This film has nothing to do with Wes Craven, despite what the advertising might tell you. It was just a desperate ploy to get people to see this film.
-In truth, this film was passed from one writer to another, with thousands of revisions. The most popular first draft involved the antagonists being robots in a plot similar to "The Matrix", while another revised the ending to make They pure figments of the imagination.
