Summary: So, there's a new Gamera about to make his name known. But how will he ever prove that he's the next guardian of the universe? Simple. Pit him against a new kaiju. But don't expect training wheels on your first try, Toto!

History: After the Gyaos perished, a small reptilian sea creature ate their remains. This resulted in the creature growing vastly in size and appetite, becoming the dreaded kaiju Zedus. As it proceeded to devour every human it could snatch up, it directed its sights to where young Toto, the successor of Gamera, was. It's going to be a fight...or two.

Notable Kills: Like the Gyaos, Zedus explicitly goes out of his way to eat people.

Final Fate: After utterly trouncing Toto the first time, Zedus ends up in a rematch that immediately goes out of his favor when Toto eats the red rocks. The turtle rips off his tongue, and blasts him to oblivion with a fireball.

Powers/Abilities: Zedus is very resilient, and has a long tongue to either ensnare prey or stab foes. He is also deceptively agile.

Weakness: Beings of greater or equal power.

Scariness Factor: 4.5-It wouldn't be a successor to the Gyaos if it didn’t have city-stomping mayhem and a horror hunger on its side. Zedus was a rather intense way to start Toto's career, and it's rather doubtful that any of the turtle's foes would reach the standard set by this guy.

Trivia: -Zedus bears a striking resemblance to Jirass, an Ultraman monster who was literally just the Showa Godzilla with yellow spots and a frill. In fact, Zedus was explicitly made as a sort of composite of various Showa monsters.

-Originally, Zedus was going to be a cephalopod-esque monster, but the filmmakers decided that it would be too similar to Viras. In order to differ him from Barugon and Jiger, he was made a biped.
