“Hollow men, hollow expectations”

Films: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: Twice that of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Imagine if there was a place where those with extraordinary powers could find sanctuary, particularly those of a very young age. No, this is not Charles Xavier's idea, this is much older than that. But not only is this place an embodiment of the inability to move on from the past, but there are horrors seeking to destroy it all for their gain.

History: In this world, there are "Peculiars", or simply people with special varied powers. And somewhere in Cairnholm, Whales, there is a house run by Miss Alma LeFay Peregrine, a special Peculiar known as a Ymbryne that can manipulate time. Alas, she keeps the place stuck in 1943 before it all got bombed. But trouble is brewing. Miss Peregrine and her kids are targets of the Hollowgasts, monstrous creatures that used to be Peculiars themselves, but got malformed by a failed experiment involving using Ymbrnes to help them live forever. If they can get their claws on another's eyes, they will become more humanoid Wights. Led by the Wight known as Mr. Baron, the Hollowgasts draw ever closer to the Peregrine household trough trickery and brutality.

Notable Kills: They eat the eyes of their victims.

Final Fate: Most of the Hollowgasts are brought down by living carnival attractions, while one is tricked by a Peculiar into eating the eyes of Mr. Baron before getting killed in return. Either way, the day is saved.

Powers/Abilities: Hollowgasts are invisible to anyone who isn't a Peculiar, and if they eat the eyes of a Ymbrne, they can become Wights.

Weakness: Anything conventional. Also, just because they're invisible doesn't meant they're intangible.

Scariness Factor: 4-Their eventual evolution isn't the worst to look at, even with those ghostly eyes, but a base Hollowgast looks like something out of a Lovecraft story. Tall, blind, and utterly savage demons that go around looking like the Slenderman with teeth and blades for limbs, they will stop at nothing until you're left a complete husk by their eating habits.

Trivia: -The designs for the Hollowgasts were partially inspired by the artwork of Zdzislaw Beksinski.

-In the original books, the Hollowgasts are just referred to as Hollows, and they eat souls, not eyes. That said, it could be a metaphor for how the eyes are often seen as a window for the soul.

We came to the wrong estate, mother-trucker.

You try explaining what's going on, folks. Only from Burton.
It's all fun and young adult stuff until the monsters come...

Not many swear words from Jackson? Blasphemy!

"I like anime. Hentai too."

Only a matter of time before the hunt.
