“The Itsy-Bitsy Diety”

Films: Itsy Bitsy (2019)

Alias: The Dark Mother

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of a small dog.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: When people say that they hate spiders, they should really say that they don't want to be bitten by one. They forget that the tiny spider is more afraid of us than we are of them. But there are those precious rare times where the fear is real. Where the eight-legged beast cannot be forgiven. And in those cases, these is always more than meets the eye.

History: Long ago, people worshiped Maa-Kalaratri, a powerful Goddess and the mother of all spiders. But over time, worship to her grinded to a halt as civilization moved on. Incensed, Maa-Kalaratri razed a village and took one of the kids, causing them to give her tribute in the form of baby sacrifice. But after millennia, someone finally sealed her away in the affectionally named "Black Egg of Maa-Kalaratri". It was given to a modern family, but alas, it inevitably breaks due to an accident. Now the old deity, having taken the form of a giant spider, seeks to drain everyone in the house of their flesh, and start a new brood.

Notable Kills: We see one person infected with the pure venom...it ain't pretty.

Final Fate: After webbing up the youngest daughter of the family, Maa-Kalaratri is assaulted by the older brother before being torn to pieces by the mother, who stomps in her head to make sure. However, some eggs are starting to hatch in the attic...

Powers/Abilities: Maa-Kalaratri's greatest asset is her venom, which can necrotize flesh and leave people in a state of paralysis. She can also weave some very sticky web. And if a situation gets out of hand, she can teleport elsewhere.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-Arachnophobes beware, because this spider doesn't have to be the size of a building to scare the daylights out of you. It's pretty much everything you hate about venomous spiders magnified, with a horrible venom and some rather sick intentions backed up by her backstory. Also, Maa-Kalaratri looks almost real, with the help of practical props and stop-motion. Be grateful your spiders are no bigger than a tack most of the time.

Trivia: -Kalaratri was the seventh of the nine forms of the great Mother Goddess Durga in Hindu mythology. She has no relation to spiders at all, but is among the many destructive forms. She is the one that rids all of negative emotions and darkness, though she is also sometimes confused with another form of Durga, the one known as Kali.

-Maa-Kalaratri's color, general look, and necrotic venom bring to mind the brown recluse spider. This species is often known living in houses and appearing almost everywhere. Their venom is incredibly toxic, and while it isn’t always severe, there is a reason why the recluse is one of three spiders that gain medical attention the most, the other two being the black widow and, fittingly, the Chilean recluse.

Because the amount of dust bunnies could seriously anger any giant arachnids.

The reverse-Psycho.
Or, really, straddles it around and sees what works.

I think she thought this was a bunk-bed.

"DiEiEiE, Maximal!"
"World's ugliest football, am I right?!"

If you can see her coming, we have bad news...
