“Feeble frenzy”

Films: Megapiranha (2010)

Alias: None

Type: Mutant

Location: River/Ocean

Height/Weight: Up to that of average baleen whales.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: So, this year was a glorious return to the terror of psychotic piranha infesting populated waters. But as you can probably guess, the Asylum is never far behind. Thus, we have what can best be described as what would happen if the twist at the end of the better film was turned into its own movie instead of being ignored for the sequel. Don't get your hopes up for quality, though.

History: Somewhere in the Orinoco River, a strain of piranha is doing a number on all the people who go there. And these aren't normal piranha either. They are a swarm of ever-growing monsters that threaten to make it to the sea, and wipe out the whole ecosystem, humans included. But as man fights man and the piranhas get bigger, chances of survival are becoming slimmer.

Notable Kills: One of them manages to eat a hammerhead shark in one bite.

Final Fate: After one of the megapiranha manages to grow to their largest size, it is lured into a reef, and the canister it's chewing is shot and blown up. The giant fish's bloody remains attract the rest of the piranha, who end up killing each other in the middle of the frenzy.

Powers/Abilities: Rapid growth beyond most fish, incredible swimming speed (enough to breach more than fifty feet above the water).

Weakness: Anything conventional, eventually just their own bloodlust.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-You'd think a horde of piranha that can grow to be as big as the largest sea creatures would be a menace like no other. Well, they may have some very toothy mouths, but that's it. The rest is eclipsed by horrible CGI and some insanely easy ways for them to go out (any fish assault that can be thwarted by bicycle kicks should be ashamed).

Trivia: -There was indeed a species of fish known as Megapiranha. From the late Miocene, it was only slightly bigger than its relative, the modern tambaqui fish, and was thought to have been its transitional form.

-Apparently, this film received two million views when it premiered on Syfy. That's...impressive, we guess?
