“Cyber-cartilidge”

Films: Roboshark (2015)

Alias: None

Type: Alien/Mutant

Location: Ocean/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average great white.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: We remember not too long ago in this decade the tale of a crocodile that accidentally ate something that made it into basically the reptilian Terminator. Here, we see what happens when that logic gets applied to sea creatures. That is, the most famous of them all.

History: Out of nowhere, an alien probe crashed into the Pacific, and got eaten by a great white. Then said fish got turned into a hyper-intelligent biomechanical beast because of it. Seeing all life forms around it as a threat, the new Roboshark proceeded to wreak havoc throughout Seattle, eating people and destroying everything in its path. There are those who hope to bring out its better nature, while others just want it dead.

Notable Kills: Do robots NEED to eat people, anyway?

Final Fate: After all attempts to communicate with it fail, the Roboshark tries to use the Space Needle to send a message to space, only for the humans to blow the building up so that it crashes onto the monster, smashing it to pieces. But then, a nearby person's chihuahua starts developing glowing red eyes...

Powers/Abilities: Extreme tunneling, extraordinary agility, hidden machine guns, heightened senses, and the ability to hack into social media. Also, should its body die, the alien force will get into something else.

Weakness: Heavy artillery.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-The CGI is, in all honesty, rather pathetic even by Syfy standards. Not helping is the fact that if approached calmly enough, the Roboshark might actually identify you as a friend. But most of the time, this thing is an unstoppable killing machine, and for that, we give it credit. It can rip through the ground like water, riddle you with bullets, and yet it still feels the need to eat you whole. A bigger budget would have helped significantly.

Trivia: -Robotic sharks are nothing new, but most of the time, they’re not that big, and they're used to observe sharks in their natural habitat. But then, we remember at least one incident where a robot got too close to great whites eating, and learned the hard way that these sharks have a pecking order. Poor guy was nearly bitten in half and left at the bottom of the ocean.

-This film was known in Japan as "Robo Shark vs. Navy Seals".
