“The frigid lizard”

Films: Ice Road Terror (2011)

Alias: None

Type: Ancient

Location: Tundra/Forest

Height/Weight: Twice that of a small car.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Reptiles, like a lot of monsters here, pop up in the most unlikely of places. We'd understand somewhere warm like the desert or a volcano, but out here in the freezing cold? You'd have to be a very sturdy lizard to make it this far. The weather certainly didn't spoil this guy's appetite.

History: In the wilds of Alaska, there’s a diamond mine located where the grass doesn't grow. But today, they've dug too deep. For buried within the Earth in dormancy is a monstrous polar monitor lizard known as the Wentshukumishiteu. Not long after its awakening, it goes out killing anyone in its path. Soon enough, a few good people will have to figure out a way to survive its onslaught.

Notable Kills: Drags someone through the ice, and impales another through the torso with its tail.

Final Fate: After killing many, the Wentshukumishiteu is finally put down when someone takes a blowtorch to its face, setting it on fire and burning it to death.

Powers/Abilities: Can burrow, withstand cold climates, and use its tail like a spear.

Weakness: Heavy artillery, but fire does it in quickly.

Scariness Factor: 3-As one might guess, this thing's CGI doesn’t do it any favors. But it's still a fairly unnerving lizard, mainly due to that rather toothy maw it has. Other than that, it's a persistent predator, and doesn't even have to get its teeth around you to finish you off.

Trivia: -In Inuit mythology, the Wentshukumishiteu, or simply Wentshu, is an aquatic nature spirit that protects all creatures from humans. It has a particular affinity for otters.

-There's a reason this big lizard was sleeping underground where it's warm. Lizards are cold-blooded, meaning that they have no internal means of warming up. A big guy like this would not survive for very long out in the freezing temperatures. Unless it was the summer, of course.
