Films: Gamera Vs. Viras (1968)

Summary: Like the Toho-created Xillians before him, Viras and his ilk figured out that to take over the world, they would have to control its greatest asset. That asset here being Gamera, of course.

History: Hailing from a galaxy housing "Mother Star Viras", the egotistically named Viras came to Earth for an easy takeover. But Gamera got in the way once too often, so he just decided to take over his mind through technology. It worked for a while thanks to good old stock footage on his side.

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: After Gamera breaks free of his control, Viras has his men fuse with him (by decapitating them) to grow larger. After a vicious battle, Gamera carries Viras (whose just gone through his stomach with his head!) into the atmosphere, where the alien squid freezes to death before plummeting into the ocean.

Powers/Abilities: By fusing with his peers, Viras can grow to gigantic size. He can also thrust himself across great distances.

Weakness: Extreme cold.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Viras never actually killed anybody (unless Gamera counts), and looks like a pissed-off kid's drawing of a squid given life. He'd be more in place in a cartoon, is what we're saying.

Trivia: -Viras, like the entire Gamera series, was conceived by Daei script-writing contest winner Nisan Takahashi.

-Ironically, most species of squid live in the deeper, colder parts of the ocean, as opposed to freezing to death.
