"Black Holed Up"

Films: The Black Hole (1979)

Alias: None

Type: Man-Made

Location: Eldritch location

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: It just goes to show you that even if Disney is the one producing your works, it'll still let you get away with the stuff nightmares are made of. Case in point, the bot that caused folks to cringe before the Terminator.

History: The Cygnus is a ship teetering on the Event Horizon of a black hole. It's been there for a while, because captain Hans Reinhardt wishes to see what lies beyond. When his crew demanded he return, he had them lobotomized and turned into machines. Leading the charge is Maximillian, a particularly nasty drone that not even Reinhardt trusts that much.

Notable Kills: Drills through a man's book, then the man.

Final Fate: Maximillian's mad power trip ends when he leaves his master for dead, and confronts the dutiful and harmless droid, V.I.N.CENT. The later manages to win by drilling through the evil robot's chest, sending him into the black hole. The last we see of Maximillian, he's seemingly fused with Reinhardt, looking over a hellish landscape with the mutineers' corpses below. Guess where they all are now.

Powers/Abilities: Immune to lasers, has drill-hands.

Weakness: An extremely blunt weapon capable of cutting metal.

Scariness Factor: 4-Maximillian is the true villain of this affair, with his motivations seemingly being just because he can and likes inflicting suffering. It's no wonder he's perched over a hellscape in the end like Satan, with that red color-scheme and scowling red vizor.

Trivia: -This is the first Disney film to earn a PG rating. Even then, we feel that’s being too generous.

-A remake has been pondered over, but ultimately put on hold. How exactly DO you top this, anyway?

For the folks at Disney, this SEEMED like the end.

No offense, but he sticks out like a sore thumb.

Aw, those poor red shirts.

Satan. I'd step aside for a while.
