"Basement Bug"

Films: Godzilla Vs. Megalon (1973)

Alias: Megaron, Megalo

Type: Ancient

Location: Underground/Civilized area

Height/Weight: 55 meters and 40,000 metric tons.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Evil

Summary: Of all the alien races that have menaced Godzilla's world, this is the one we sympathize with the most. Now if only their solution to everything wasn't to sic their monster god on us whenever we put a foot out of place.

History: The Seatopians are a race of subterranean men and women constantly beleaguered by the nuclear tests going off on the surface. Rather than discuss things with diplomacy and other boring crud, their grand Emperor Antonio (not even joking) summoned their god, the giant beetle monster Megalon, to wreak havoc. Even worse, when things got crazier with Godzilla and the new bot, Jet Jaguar, Antonio called over his buddies from Nebula M to send Gigan to help.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Despite Megalon and his cybernetic ally's efforts, Godzilla and Jet Jaguar soundly beat them both up, and send them retreating.

Powers/Abilities: Megalon can fly, tunnel through the Earth with his drill-hands, shoot lightning from his horn, and shoot napalm bombs from his mouth.

Weakness: A beast of equal or greater power.

Scariness Factor: 4-Destructive as all kaiju are, Megalon can appear a bit clumsy, but he is no less ferocious. Even without Gigan, he was able to handle at least one opponent with ease, even if it was Jet Jaguar.

Trivia: -Megalon's name is derived from 'megalo', the Greek term for abnormally large.

-Megalon's design is primarily based of the Japanese kabutomushi (helmeted insect), a type of rhinoceros beetle. Ironically, they are popular pets among children in their homeland.

You can't beat up Godzilla without making a few friends.
Ultimate battle? You really ARE that old, Megalon.

This was a low-note in the history of Kaiju.

"You see Megalon? You gotta enjoy the look of terror on their faces."

Sorry. Different ancient city. And is that an Easter Island Head?

Trippy.

Just in case you wanted to see if this hulk really could fly.
This feels a bit tasteless now.

Nice balancing act there, Goji.
