"Evil never stops evolving"

Films: Zeiram (1991), Zeiram 2 (1994)

Alias: None

Type: Alien

Location: Haunted home/Civilized Area/Eldritch location

Height/Weight: Usually that of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: The world of tokusatsu isn't just big monsters and city-stomping. There are the human-sized threats and wonders as well. However, none of them are quite as utterly bizarre nor terrifying as the alien scourge that blighted our galaxy twice over. The one they call Zeiram.

History: Somewhere in space, one of the most feared beings is out and about. Zeiram is its name, and everyone who has the misfortune either dies, or worse, is converted into power for it. Only one person stands in its way. The brave bounty hunter known as Iria. She and her AI companion, Bob, have tracked Zeiram to Earth, where a great battle is ready to commence. Now it's the alien abomination against Iria, Bob, and two bumbling average joes named Teppei and Kamiya in a special place known as a Zone, an alternate dimension where they may stand a chance against Zeiram.

Notable Kills: Smashes its own misshapen minion under its foot after losing patience with its failure.

Final Fate: Every time Zeiram rears its ugly head, every time it tries to turn into something worse, Iria and friends always manage to defeat it. Even after that time some idiots put its core in a robotic body, our heroes prevailed.

Powers/Abilities: Anything that Zeiram feeds from gives the alien its prey's genetic code for more power. It can also summon monsters from its own DNA, and any time it's brought to the verge of death, it can shapeshift into increasingly horrific forms. It also understands the concept of Zones, little pocket dimensions that quickly become battlegrounds.

Weakness: Its face-shaped core is its weakness. If it is completely obliterated, so is the alien.

Scariness Factor: 4.5-Zeiram is perhaps one of the scariest damn villains to ever come out of the tokusatsu genre. At least, when there isn't any kaiju around. Here, it's a malevolent alien that is capable of taking absolutely mind-breaking forms, and at its most normal-looking, it looks like a warrior that could cut you down in seconds. Pray you never meet it in a dark alley.

Trivia: -Director Keita Amemiya claims that the main inspiration for Zeiram's default form was inspired by the creepy thought of a guy at night cloaked in Edo-period travelling wear.

-An anime prequel spin-off was made for this franchise. Known as "IRIA: Zeiram the Animation", it chronicled Iria's first encounter with Zeiram, and gave her and the audience plenty of good reason to hate that alien, as well as fear it. There was also one or two video games where their heated battles continued.
